Bi-monthly decolonising home learning circle (NEXT: SATURDAY MAY 10th)
NEXT CIRCLE SATURDAY MAY 10th 2025, 9am AEST
A circle for families whose children do not attend school, or those looking to transition out, with decolonial values at the centre of their choice and path. We are prioritising Indigenous perspectives, voices and history. We are working to dismantle our own school conditioning, biases & supremacy. This space is particularly for BIPOC but all are welcome. You ideally already have some level of understanding of this work because this will not be a teaching space specifically.
This is a space of lateral power where we gather as equals to share our journeys: what’s working, what isn’t, the challenges we’re facing, the conditioning we’re meeting and unlearning. A space for honest reflection, support and connection in the alternative homelearning path.
Decolonial home learning is an approach to home education that actively resists and unravels colonial structures, ideologies, and ways of being that have shaped mainstream schooling.
Decolonising home learning can feel like a lonely journey, especially in homeschooling circles and we need spaces to come together to unpack what’s happening for us. This helps with sustainability.
For now, we will meet once every 8 weeks via zoom for 90 - 120 mins. We will check in, share experiences, resources and ask questions.
The first meet up is Sunday April 13th 9am AEST
